OFT flexes its muscles – again Insight eBulletin
Today's announcement from the OFT that it is planning a 'market study' into the equity underwriting market follows a number of other recent developments that are of relevance to UK plc.
Perhaps, unusually, many FTSE 350 companies might welcome the OFT's most recent intervention. So often they are at the receiving end of the OFT's investigations (such as into dairy, tobacco, groceries etc.) yet on this occasion they may have much to gain. On a wider level, today's announcement is the latest in a series of recent initiatives from the OFT that might have far-reaching implications for many FTSE constituents.
