Construction press - take notice
Construction contracts usually cover a variety of circumstances where one party may need to serve a contractual notice on the other. A notice may be required:
- if the works are delayed and the contractor wishes to claim an extension of time;
- if the contractor wishes to claim extra payment; or
- if one of the parties wishes to terminate.
The consequences of failing to comply with notice provisions can be serious. Two recent cases highlight the need to take care when serving notices under building contracts.
