Macfarlanes responds to European Consultation on Pension Scheme Regulation
Macfarlanes has responded to the latest consultation on proposed changes to the IORP Directive - the European legislation that underpins the regulation of UK pension schemes.
The current consultation builds on an earlier round of consultation held in April 2011 in which the European Commission asked for technical advice from EIOPA (the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) on proposed changes to European pensions regulation, to be effected by amendments to the IORP Directive. EIOPA, in turn, has consulted on the advice it proposes to give to the Commission-and that advice is likely to have significant implications for UK businesses if it is eventually adopted.
