Jane is a partner in the employment, pensions and benefits team. A pensions specialist, Jane acts predominately for companies and trustees on all aspects of UK and cross-border pensions law, including corporate transactions, reorganisations and scheme mergers, industry-wide schemes, funding negotiations, conflicts and project management. She has particular experience in the utilities and energy sectors, and of the treatment of former public sector liabilities in GAD approved schemes. Clients for whom she acts include Pernod Ricard, Royal Doulton Pension Plan, Kingspan Group plc, Nuclear Management Partners Limited, Oak Hill Capital and Vision Capital.

Recent highlights include advising:

  • Pernod Ricard in relation to pensions aspects of the acquisition of Vin & Sprit from the Kingdom of Sweden;
  • on the acquisition of Christian Salvesen plc by Groupe Norbert Dentresangle;
  • the trustees of the Shipbuilding Industries Pension Scheme in relation to issues arising in relation to a JC created to build new warships for the Royal Navy;
  • on the impact of the Pensions Directive, specifically in relation to streamling administration, investments and potentially merging plans cross-border in the EU;
  • the trustees of a FTSE 100 company's pension scheme (£1b + liabilities) on benefit changes and deficit funding issues;
  • public-sector and privatised clients on benefit structures and outsourcing within the Government Actuary's guidelines;
  • a public body in relation to industry-wide arrangements;
  • a US employer in relation to a cost and risk reduction programme;
  • on the establishment of new pension arrangements for companies following a de-merger; and
  • a Canadian company in relation to JV.
