Simon joined the firm in 1984 and became a partner in 1992. He has recently returned to a full-time client partner role, having been the firm's managing partner from 1 May 2008 until 31 December 2010. Simon was head of the corporate group from 2000 until 2007.

Simon undertakes a broad range of corporate advisory and M&A work for companies based in the UK and overseas. Clients for whom he acts include J D Wetherspoon plc, Tarsus Group plc, Kingspan Group plc, the Bank of N. T. Butterfield & Son Limited (Bermuda) and Daido Metal Co., Ltd (Japan).
