Environment, health & safety
Our environment, health and safety (EHS) practice is recognised for its transactional, compliance and regulatory experience, as well as its market-leading contentious expertise.
The EHS group is a central part of our combined planning, environment and construction (PEC) practice.
Our clients want to understand the opportunities that EHS and climate change legislation and policy creates, rather than focusing solely on liabilities. It is our creative and innovative approach that differentiates us from others, and this, combined with our proven expertise, ensures that we can help to add value to business undertakings.
Whilst we continue to excel in the more traditional areas, such as soil and groundwater contamination, permitting, asbestos and health and safety, we have established expertise in relation to emerging areas, notably product stewardship, climate change and carbon issues. In particular, we have recently acted on what is acknowledged to be the most significant environmental class action to have been brought before the UK courts to date.
We have strong links with technical consultants, academia and various regulatory authorities and this has led to our involvement in developing and implementing a range of cutting-edge EHS solutions.
Internationally, our clients benefit from our independent status, which allows us to put together tailor-made teams of genuine legal and technical EHS experts. Given the EU and international drivers behind much of EHS legislation and policy, our approach allows us to offer a first-class and truly dedicated EHS service.
