Stephen has 40 years’ experience advising and representing clients in a wide range of EU law and UK competition and regulatory matters and is widely recognised as a leading EU and UK competition and regulation lawyer.
Stephen’s extensive experience spans advising and representing clients on some of the largest and highest profile transactional and behavioural competition and regulatory matters, both contentious and non-contentious, at EU and UK domestic level. Over recent years his work has included advising on Brexit and its consequences for clients’ businesses. His practice has included advising, acting and often appearing as advocate in a large number of leading cases before UK and EU competition authorities and EU and UK courts and tribunals, including cutting edge merger and cartel cases and judicial challenges to EU and UK government decisions or actions.
As an advocate, he has Higher Rights of Audience and is also a mediator accredited by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR). He has published widely on a wide range of EU and UK domestic competition and regulatory matters.
