Tim Plews Senior Consultant

Tim Plews is a senior consultant in the financial services regulation group.

He has nearly 35 years of experience in financial services regulation. He retired from the partnership of a magic circle firm in 2017 after 32 years with the firm.

Tim has advised on many of the developments in UK domestic, EU and international financial services regulation over the last three decades. As lead counsel to the EU-US Coalition on Financial Regulation, Tim assisted 11 trade associations put forward proposals for enhanced EU-US financial market access arrangements to many regulators and legislators. Tim has advised in-house counsel and compliance officers, traders and managers, and the boards of financial institutions, asset managers, market infrastructure businesses and regulators on a wide range of risk management issues across the spectrum of M&A transactions, capital structuring, retail and wholesale markets, distribution relationships,  individual conduct issues and strategic planning.

A regular seminar and conference speaker, he has written many topical articles and also contributed to Liability Of Asset Managers (OUP 2012) and to Islamic Retail Banking and Finance: Global Challenges and Opportunities (Euromoney Books 2005).
