Our Brussels office is home to our EU competition and regulatory capability, working seamlessly with colleagues in London on complex UK and EU matters. 

From Brussels, we advise clients on merger control, foreign direct investment and foreign subsidies regimes, as well as antitrust investigations, cartel matters and competition litigation before the European Commission, national authorities and the EU courts. 

The team is particularly experienced in complex, cross-border transactions and investigations, combining deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, commercial approach for industrial clients and financial sponsors operating across Europe.

• Pandox on EU merger clearance for its acquisition of joint control over Dalata Hotel Group plc;
• on EU merger and FSR aspects of the acquisition of a global alternative asset manager by a competing alternative investment firm;
• Danone on merger control and FDI processes in connection with the divestment of Proviva;
• Mercedes-Benz in connection with the CMA’s end-of-live vehicles cartel investigation;
• DP World Tour on various antitrust matters relating to professional golf;
• Visa Inc during the EU Commission investigation relating to inter-regional interchange fees;
• Amcor Inc in obtaining EU merger clearance for the acquisition of Bemis Company Inc;
• Total Produce plc in obtaining EU merger clearance for the merger with Dole Inc;
• International Paper on its plan to create two independent publicly traded companies;
• a PE client on EU merger and FSR clearances for its acquisition of a competing portfolio company, addressing horizontal overlaps and coordinating related merger and FDI filings globally;
• Viaplay on merger control strategy for its acquisition of sole control over Allente;
• a global platform on its appeal before the EU Courts against a European Commission merger decision; and
• several pharmaceutical companies in antitrust investigations relating to patent settlement agreements, including during proceedings before the European Courts.
