Macfarlanes has advised IP Group plc (IP Group) on its partnership with Aberdeen Investments and Scottish Widows to manage a UK venture growth portfolio within the CG Scottish Widows Growth LTAF.

IP Group is working with Aberdeen Investments, which manages the growth sub-fund for Scottish Widows, to bring private markets exposure to workplace pension savers. The CG Scottish Widows Growth LTAF is amongst the first UK pension schemes to actively allocate members’ capital to UK venture growth, connecting workplace pension savings with high-growth, innovative UK science and technology companies.

IP Group is an investor in science and technology companies which has developed and supported more than 600 businesses across HealthTech, DeepTech and CleanTech.

The Macfarlanes team was led by Fund Formation and Sponsor Solutions Partner Harriet Miller, with support from Associate Ashley Mount. Tax advice was provided by Partner Sophie Donnithorne-Tait with support from Senior Counsel Charishma Bhujohory and Associate Gigi Leith.

Harriet Miller said: “We are delighted to have advised IP Group on this landmark mandate, which is one of the first active allocations by a UK DC workplace pension proposition to British science and technology companies. It has been a pleasure to work alongside the IP Group team, and we look forward to seeing the portfolio support the next generation of UK technology leaders.”
