Alex works on a broad range of corporate matters, with a particular focus on private equity, fund secondary transactions, GP-led restructurings and private acquisitions.

Alex acts for private equity sponsors, secondary investors, co-investors, corporates and management teams. Alex has also spent time on secondment at an international private equity investor and a FTSE 250 company.

Experience

  • Advising Alchemy on the purchase of a stake in the luxury UK hotel and spa group Barons Eden.
  • Advising leading mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Lebara on its strategic partnership with Waterland Private Equity.
  • Advising Graphite Capital on the sale of YSC Consulting.
  • Advising UK private equity firm Graphite Capital on various transactions, including the acquisition of software testing and quality engineering consultancy Ten10 and the management buy-out of YSC Consulting.
  • Advising on numerous fund secondary transactions, co-investments and GP-led secondary transactions.
  • Advising Alchemy on its investments in Countrywide, Beechcroft Developments, Hampshire Trust Bank, M2 Subsea, Anglian Group, a UK residential lettings platform and DNA Payments.
  • Advising Lexington Partners on fund secondary portfolio transactions, GP-led transactions, and other secondary transactions, including the acquisition from Electra Private Equity plc of stakes in Photobox and Knight Square.
  • Advising Cboe Global Markets on the acquisition of leading European equities clearing house EuroCCP.
  • Advising GAM on Invesco Real Estate’s acquisition of GAM’s commercial real estate debt finance business.
  • Acting for Spectris plc on a number of matters, including the acquisition of Concept Life Sciences from Equistone, the acquisition of Millbrook Group from Rutland Partners, Macquarie’s acquisition of 50% of Spectris’ environmental monitoring business EMS Brüel & Kjær, the purchase of Naneum and the acquisition of NanoSight.
  • Acting for Royal Mail plc on the acquisition of StoreFeeder.
  • Advising Caledonia Investments plc on the sale of Amber Chemicals to ICM Products (backed by Century Park Capital Partners), the acquisition of Seven Investment Management from Zurich and Aegon, the sale of Park Holidays and the acquisition of The Liberation Group Limited, the Channel Islands' pub, restaurant and drinks business, from LGV Capital.
  • Acting for L-3 Technologies on the acquisition of Thales’ civil fixed wing aircraft simulation business and the acquisition of CTC Aviation from Inflexion Private Equity.
  • Advising Fleming Family & Partners on its merger with Stonehage to create an independent multi-family office business with $43bn in assets under administration.
  • Advising Stonehage Fleming on its share buyback and the purchase by Caledonia Investments plc of a 36.7% minority stake.
