Balint advises clients on contentious and non-contentious EU and UK competition law matters.

Balint advises on a broad range of antitrust matters, including competition litigation, cartel and abuse of dominance investigations, merger control, and competition compliance. 

Balint regularly works on complex standalone and follow-on damages claims and has significant experience defending collective actions before the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal.

He has acted for clients across financial services, automotive, transport, retail, and music, bringing sector‑specific insight to both contentious and non‑contentious mandates.

Before entering private practice, Balint gained hands-on experience within the European Commission's antitrust enforcement as a Blue Book Trainee at DG Competition, where he worked on merger control, including the Commission's landmark Dow/DuPont investigation.

Experience

  • Advising Associated British Foods plc on its anticipated acquisition of Hovis Group Limited, including in respect of the CMA’s merger inquiry.
  • Advising a major international bank on parallel private damages actions and collective proceedings, including appeal proceedings before the Supreme Court, arising from alleged anti‑competitive conduct in the foreign exchange market.
  • Advising PRS for Music, the UK’s leading collective management organisation, for the performing rights in musical works on a number of matters, including in relation to collective proceedings brought in the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
  • Advising ZF, a global technology manufacturer, in its defence of cartel damages claims brought before the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
  • Advising Stagecoach South Western Trains in relation to the first collective standalone claim in the UK before the Competition Appeal Tribunal concerning alleged abuse of dominance (experience gained at another firm).
