About

Clare is a Partner and head of the Real Estate group.

Clare advises investors, developers, family offices, private clients and funders on domestic (UK) and cross-border commercial and residential real estate transactions including acquisitions, disposals, development, leasing, joint ventures and real estate finance.

Her sector experience includes prime residential, build-to-rent (BTR), student accommodation, offices, retail, industrial, hospitality and leisure.

Qualified in England and Wales, 1999.

 

Experience

  • Advising international family offices and high-net-worth individuals on the acquisition, disposal, refurbishment, development, leasing and financing of residential and commercial properties including prime Central London townhouses, premium off-plan apartments, country houses, portfolios of rental apartments, office buildings, shops and hotels.
  • Advising Realstar Group on the acquisition and forward funding of BTR development projects at Artisan Point, Acton, 5 Ariel Square, Colindale and Frome House, Southall; the acquisition of Orient House, Manchester; the corporate acquisition of Pioneer Point, Ilford; a joint venture with Mace Real Estate to acquire, finance and deliver a mixed-use scheme in Elephant & Castle, South London with BTR, affordable housing, a theatre and retail space; and the forward purchase of the Bankside Hotel in Southwark.
  • Advising Genting Casinos on the acquisition and disposal of the Metropolitan Hotel in Park Lane, Mayfair (operated by Como); the sale of a portfolio of residential rental apartments in South Kensington; the sale of the Park Lane Mews Hotel in Mayfair; the sale of freehold office buildings in Mayfair; and an occupational lease at the Palm Beach Casino in Berkeley Street, Mayfair.
  • Advising Stanhope on the acquisition, redevelopment and sale of a residential-led mixed-use scheme at Station Hill, Reading in joint venture with Benson Elliot; the acquisition and part lease-back of the BBC’s Media Village, West London in joint venture with Mitsui Fudosan; a joint venture with Hammersmith and Fulham Council to develop and regenerate the Council’s housing stock; and the fund formation of the Threadneedle Low-Carbon Workplace Trust in partnership with Threadneedle and The Carbon Trust to refurbish existing buildings to best practice low carbon standards.
  • Advising Legal & General on the acquisition and forward funding of two BTR development projects at New Bailey, Salford in a joint venture with Muse Developments; the acquisition of the Grafton Shopping Centre, Cambridge; and the corporate acquisition of West Cross Industrial Estate, Brentwood.
  • Advising Rocket Properties on the development, financing and leasing of the 40 floor residential tower at Atlas Building and the commercial premises at Provost & East on City Road, London; the acquisition and financing of office premises in Cranwood Street, London and the refinancing of a retail and hospitality portfolio on City Road, London.
  • Advising lenders including ARA Venn, Ares, Barings, Corebridge Financial, DBS Bank, Emirates NBD, Hayfin, ING Bank, Investec, Legal & General, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, RBC, RBS and Signal on investment and development facilities secured real estate assets including offices, retail, hotels, casinos, caravan parks, pubs, care homes, BTR, student accommodation, private residential, ground rent portfolios and development projects.
