Dan’s practice covers all aspects of commercial and corporate real estate.

His work includes property development, the negotiation of commercial leases for both landlords and tenants, sale and leaseback transactions, operational transactions, and the commercial real estate aspects of financing transactions and commercial mergers and acquisitions.

Dan has significant experience in the growing operational real estate sector, and alongside our PCRE team, has produced an operational real estate report, which considers the scale of the market opportunity in the UK, how operational real estate can be accessed, and some of the key structuring and governance considerations.

Experience

  • Advising Pandox on the scheme of arrangement and completion of the acquisition of Dalata Hotel Group plc.
  • Advising Realstar on the sale of its residential operating platform in the UK and Ireland to its joint venture partner, QuadReal, together with the rights to its UNCLE brand in Europe and the UK.
  • Advising Stanhope on the £450m acquisition of Row One from Landsec, in a joint venture with Cheyne Capital.
  • Advising Investec Bank PLC and Rathbones Group PLC on a long-term lease regear of 30 Gresham Street, London.
  • Advising one of the largest hotel property owners in Europe, Pandox AB, on its c€1.4bn recommended cash offer for Dalata Hotel Group plc.
  • Advising Sadel Group on securing a £500m facility to refinance its cold storage business, Magnavale.
  • Advising Realstar on the indirect corporate acquisition and simultaneous financing of One Exchange Square, a 603-unit BTR property in Birmingham, in addition to multiple acquisitions in the BTR and student accommodation sector.
  • Advising private equity firm Epiris on the acquisition of Amber Taverns by one of its advised funds, Epiris Fund III.
  • Advising Stanhope on its entry into a joint venture with Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo in order to acquire the Media Village site in White City from the BBC, the ongoing development and management of the site and subsequent disposal to Cadillac Fairview (now Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan).
  • Advising the Oxford North joint venture between Thomas White Oxford Limited, OTPP and Stanhope on its corporate structuring matters, investor arrangements and development management agreements.
  • Advising Canary Wharf Group on its estate and corporate structuring for its development at Wood Wharf, London.
  • Advising Berkeley Homes (South East London) on a development agreement with the GLA in relation to a 27 acre site in West Ham, London for a residential-led development.
