Joe advises on a wide range of UK and cross-border tax matters, with a specialisation in private capital tax and M&A.

Joe specialises in advising private capital clients on a wide variety of tax matters. These include fund structuring across private equity, credit and other asset classes, house tax matters, and investment and divestment transactions (including deal structuring).

Joe’s work also involves advising a wider client base on the tax aspects of private and public M&A transactions.

Joe is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). He has undertaken a secondment to the tax department of a leading alternative asset management firm.

  • Advising Polus Capital Management on the launch of Polus Special Situations Fund, which has raised commitments of €890m.
  • Advising Beechbrook Capital on a GP-led secondary for Beechbrook Mezzanine II L.P.
  • Advising 17Capital on the closing of 17Capital Strategic Lending Fund 6, which has successfully held a final closing at US$5.5bn including co-investment and affiliated entities.
  • Advising Hayfin on its agreement with Arctos Partners, a private investment firm, to support a management buyout of the business, acquiring British Columbia Investment Management Corporation’s majority stake.
  • Advising Valderrama Limited on the tax and structuring aspects of its acquisition of Dignity plc.
  • Advising long-standing client Hayfin on its strategic partnerships with Mubadala Investment Company and AXA IM Prime.
