About
Rachel is a senior knowledge lawyer in the financial services team, responsible for knowledge management. A core part of her role is designing and delivering training for lawyers while also supporting clients with bespoke training initiatives.
She trained and qualified at Macfarlanes. Before taking on the role of knowledge lawyer, she spent more than a decade working with clients on a broad range of regulatory matters. Her expertise includes advising numerous clients on the impact of regulatory changes (for example, the Consumer Duty and the Investment Firms Prudential Regime) as well as helping them to prepare for implementation.
In addition to leading the financial services team’s knowhow and training programme and keeping the team up to date on the latest regulatory initiatives she is also responsible for the team’s thought leadership work. She regularly writes articles on the latest legal developments and produces client briefings.
Rachel has also spent time on secondment at two financial services firms and has a good understanding of the particular challenges facing this industry. She is involved with a number of trade associations and regularly contributes to working groups on regulatory developments.
Experience
- Advising clients on regulatory developments including IFPR, MiFID II, SMCR, Brexit, and the Consumer Duty.
- Providing specialist regulatory input on proposed acquisitions of regulated firms.
- Assisting a range of clients to ensure that policies, procedures and systems and controls are in line with regulatory best practice.
- Supporting various clients through FCA processes including seeking full FCA authorisation, change in controller approval and variations of permission.
- Advising on the regulatory perimeter under FSMA 2000.
- Advising on a “skilled person” review pursuant to s.166 FSMA 2000.
