Rebecca acts for corporate entities, financial institutions, funds, states and sovereign bodies and individuals on a wide range of complex commercial disputes, with a particular focus on shareholder disputes, private equity and investment disputes, distressed financial structures and asset recovery, often involving a significant international element.
Rebecca has worked on a broad range of complex domestic and international disputes acting for clients in High Court litigation and arbitration. She also advises clients in relation to mediation and appellate proceedings. Her experience encompasses the entire litigation timeline, from advising on potentially contentious issues and securing pre-action injunctive relief to representing clients at trial and enforcing favourable judgments and awards both domestically and abroad.
Rebecca has spent six months working as a judicial assistant to the Chancery Division of the Business & Property Courts of England and Wales.
Experience
- Advising a world leading commodities trader in pursuing fraud claims in excess of $500m against defendants in multiple jurisdictions and securing urgent injunctive relief as part of a cross-border asset recovery strategy, resulting in one of the largest ever worldwide freezing orders obtained in the metals trading sector. The worldwide freezing order was successfully defended on an application to set aside.
- Acting for an investment manager in complex, multi-party and multi-jurisdictional investigations and proceedings arising out of a significant private equity fund collapse in relation to claims against the former directors.
- Acting for shareholders in relation to high profile claims brought against a listed company in relation to losses suffered as a result of the improper exercise of directors’ powers.
- Advising a German bank in administration in relation to potential contractual claims against government bodies in excess of £300m.
- Acting for investor claimants in High Court proceedings concerning the breakdown of a joint venture for the fabrication, license and sale of sculptures by a major American artist.
- Acting for and advising a high net worth individual and associated companies in relation to complex and concurrent High Court proceedings arising from an alleged unlawful means conspiracy and data hacking.
