Riley acts for a range of clients, including large corporates and high-net-worth individuals and their family offices. Riley has experience of High Court litigation, Competition Appeal Tribunal proceedings and LCIA arbitration.
Riley has a particular interest in the growing area of ESG and climate litigation. As such, she is an active member of the firm’s ESG working group, as well as being a member of the Environment Committee. Externally, Riley is part of the Stewardship Committee for Legal Voices for the Future, a Law Society initiative focussing on how junior legal professionals can engage with the climate and biodiversity crises, and the UK Environmental Law Association working groups on Environmental Litigation and Nature Conservation.
Experience
- Successfully acting for a corporate party and its ultimate beneficial owner in LCIA arbitral proceedings on an expedited basis regarding repayment of a loan. The dispute involved complex issues regarding debt financing and managing complex commercial relations.
- Acting for a high-net-worth settlor regarding the appointment of a trustee to an offshore trust and assisting in the challenge to proceedings brought by existing trustees in offshore jurisdictions.
- Acting for a commercial client in High Court proceedings in relation to a dispute regarding repayment of a large debt. The dispute involved many pieces of satellite litigation, including challenges to jurisdiction, service out of the jurisdiction and strike-out.
