Pro bono
Supporting access to justice through pro bono work
Pro bono is at the heart of our culture. As trusted advisers to major businesses, we believe in using our skills to make a real difference for those who need it most.
By sharing our expertise, we help individuals and charities drive positive change in their communities. Every pro bono matter receives the same care and commitment as our client work, and everyone at the firm – from future Trainees to Partners – is encouraged to get involved.
Our lawyers contribute their expertise each year as part of our commitment to the Law Society’s Pro Bono Charter and the National Pro Bono Protocol. Whether we’re supporting a new charity with governance, or advising a world-class hospital on complex construction projects, we bring commercial insight, technical excellence and a genuine commitment to expanding access to justice.
Pro bono is an essential part of who we are. We believe that the skills we use to help our clients should also help expand access to justice and support those creating positive change in society. What makes me proud is that everyone shares this commitment and contributes to the impact we can have together.

Refugee Law Clinic
We help asylum seekers prepare fresh claims for refugee status through the Refugee Law Clinic, which we founded with the University of London and Clifford Chance. The Clinic prepares fresh asylum claims for people whose earlier applications were refused. Over 15% of our lawyers have completed specialist training, working alongside law students to identify new evidence and legal developments.
St Hilda’s East Legal Advice Service
We provide free legal advice to local residents at a weekly clinic in Tower Hamlets, in partnership with St Hilda’s and BPP Law School. Each week, our lawyers run a walk-in clinic in Tower Hamlets with St Hilda’s East Community Centre and BPP Law School. Local residents receive free, practical advice on consumer, employment and housing issues that might otherwise go unaddressed. Our volunteers have donated hundreds of hours, helping clients secure wages and maintain tenancies without the stress and expense of formal proceedings.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
In addition to raising funds for pioneering immunotherapy research with the Royal Mardsen Cancer Charity, we provided pro bono construction law advice to support the development of the Royal Marsden’s new Oak Cancer Centre – a facility expected to generate breakthroughs in cancer research for decades. From contract negotiations to risk allocation, our team ensured the project progressed on time and on budget, allowing the charity to channel its funds into cutting-edge treatment and care rather than legal fees. The hospital anticipates that discoveries made in the new centre will save countless lives worldwide.
