Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations

A strategic, smart and commercial approach to resolution of disputes and conduct of investigations

Our disputes practice is renowned for its quality and breadth, advising on complex disputes and investigations across a range of specialisms.

Clients trust us to bring resolution to their most strategically important contentious matters, often where commercial, regulatory and reputational issues intersect. Our work is frequently cross-border and, as an independent firm, in those matters we work with the overseas counsel best suited to the matter.

There is significant overlap between our disputes practice and the firm’s other areas of focus, giving us deep experience in disputes and investigations in the Private Capital and Private Wealth contexts.

Clients value our calm, commercial approach and the depth of experience we bring to contentious matters. On large or fast-moving disputes, our dedicated Case Management Unit provides additional precision and control, supporting efficient delivery.

Work highlights include:

  • defending 13 Bitcoin developers in a high-profile claim brought by Dr Craig Wright;
  • defending the PGA European Tour in landmark LIV Gold disciplinary appeals brought by high-profile member players;
  • defending NatWest Markets in landmark FX collective proceedings, having also acted in the earlier investigation stage;
  • acting for 160 member banks of the British Bankers’ Association in one of the largest pieces of banking litigation ever brought in the English High Court. We represented the entire London banking sector;
  • acting for Travelport Limited a fintech business in a speedy trial relating to the operation of a Material Adverse Effect clause as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic in a Share Purchase Agreement;
  • advising various stakeholders on cladding, fire safety and regulatory matters following the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and the introduction of the Building Safety Act, including acting for parties in a number of re-cladding claims; and
  • advising the successful party in the X Trusts litigation in the Bermuda Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, the most significant case on the role of trust protectors.
