International Arbitration

Resolving arbitrations across sectors and jurisdictions

We represent corporates and institutions, sovereign states investors and individuals in complex international arbitrations involving all major global seats and institutional rules.

Clients trust us to resolve their high-stakes disputes that often involve financial services, joint ventures, infrastructure projects, supply or sale of goods agreements, post-M&A claims and shareholder conflicts. We advise frequently in the context of parallel civil, criminal or regulatory actions.

We act in high value and technically challenging disputes across a broad range of sectors and arbitration frameworks, including LCIA, ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC, HKIAC, as well as in ad hoc proceedings. Our experience extends to related court applications – including enforcement, interim relief and appeals – in England and abroad.

Our track record spans sectors from financial services and private equity to hotels, infrastructure, technology and pharmaceuticals. What unites our work is the ability to combine deep arbitration expertise with sector knowledge and strategic insight, delivering clear advice, global reach and effective representation.

Work highlights include advising:

  • a German entity in an LCIA arbitration brought by a Russian entity and successfully defending the Russian party’s appeal to the English court;
  • the PGA European Tour against appeals brought by member players concerning sanctions for playing in LIV Golf events;
  • an international energy company in eight consolidated arbitrations arising from a joint venture dispute in Africa, involving allegations of fraud, rescission and breach of contract, alongside parallel criminal proceedings in Uganda;
  • two Chinese entities in a $180m consolidated arbitration against a Swiss counterparty involving English and Chinese law and related Chinese insolvency proceedings;
  • a Middle Eastern government in a $300m ICC arbitration involving termination under an amended FIDIC contract; and
  • a US placement agent in a valuation and contract interpretation dispute against a Norwegian fund.
International arbitration practitioners with a very strong grounding in High Court litigation. Not only does this help with the conduct of the arbitration itself, it also ensures that appropriate advice can be given about court-level support for arbitrations.
