Megan Man

Senior Team PA, Private Client

Megan is a Senior Team PA in the firm’s Private Client team, working with Partners, Associates and Business Team colleagues to keep the group’s busy workload progressing smoothly.

What does your role involve day to day?

It’s different every day. I look after three Partners and also support a few Associates across the group, so there’s a lot of diary and travel management, scheduling client meetings, dealing with billing and document formatting. I also get involved in onboarding new team members and supporting our Trainees when they rotate through the group. It’s about keeping everything ticking over so our lawyers can focus on their clients.

How did you first get into Macfarlanes?

I started out as an Admin Assistant and since then I’ve worked my way up. It’s been eight years now, and I’ve gone from Admin Assistant to Junior Team PA, then Team PA, and now Senior Team PA. I’ve had lots of opportunities to learn and grow here and been supported with training, especially on our digital ways of working – such as e-billing and client-focused systems.

Do you work closely with people in other parts of the firm too?

Yes, all the time. We’re supporting high-net-worth individuals and families, so we often need input from other practices like Tax or Real Estate. That means working across teams, especially on things like client onboarding and billing. A lot of our work is international, so we are also liaising with firms in Europe and Asia. It’s very collaborative.

What kind of career opportunities have you seen while you’ve been at Macfarlanes?

There are so many different routes. Some people want to build their career as a PA, and go from Junior to Senior, like I’ve done. Others are using it as a stepping stone to join other parts of the firm. You’re encouraged to grow in the direction that’s right for you. I’ve always felt valued here.
