Richard acts on a wide range of litigation, arbitration and adjudication matters, focusing on the construction and property sectors.

Richard has broad experience of construction disputes, including termination, delay and defective work disputes. He has acted on a number of adjudications and arbitrations, as well as Part 7 and Part 8 litigation proceedings. This includes proceedings in the the Technology and Construction Court, the Commercial Court, and in the London Court of International Arbitration. 

Richard regularly advises on complex commercial and residential property disputes, frequently acting for private equity investors or pension funds.

Richard’s experience includes cases involving allegations of fraud, disputes concerning PFI contracts, disputes related to specialist industrial and transport infrastructure, and medical manufacturing facilities, as well as disputes concerning high profile residential developments.

Richard is a member of the Society of Construction Law.

Experience

  • Acting on a case concerning allegations of design and workmanship defects concerning the cladding of a multi-storey private residential development in London.
  • Acting for the employer on a final account adjudication relating to the design and construction of a vaccine production facility, involving complex technical allegations concerning whether the facility complied with relevant bio-containment legislation.
  • Acting for the employer on a case involving a series of adjudications, concerning disputes relating to a contract for the upgrade of a data centre with a value of c. £15m, and related High Court proceedings.
