Clare is a partner and head of the Real Estate group.

Clare regularly advises investors, developers, private clients, family offices and funders on a wide variety of both domestic (UK) and cross-border commercial and residential real estate transactions with an emphasis on investment, development, leasing, joint ventures and real estate finance.

Her sector experience includes prime residential, build-to-rent (BTR), student accommodation, offices, retail, industrial, hospitality and leisure.

Qualified in England and Wales, 1999.

Realstar Group

Advising Realstar Group on the acquisition and forward funding of two BTR development schemes by Redrow Plc in Merrick Road, Southall and Collindale Gardens, Edgware; the acquisition of Orient House, Manchester for PRS use; a joint venture with Mace Real Estate to acquire, finance and deliver a mixed-use scheme in Elephant & Castle, South London with BTR, affordable housing, a theatre and retail space; and the acquisition and development of a boutique hotel in Southwark, London.

International Family Offices and Private Investors

Advising international family offices and private investors on the acquisition and financing of a variety of Central London residential and commercial properties including the acquisition of a town house in Lygon Place, Belgravia; co-investments in the conversion of offices to prime residential apartments in Albemarle Street, Mayfair and St James Street, St James; the acquisition, refinancing and redevelopment of The Knightsbridge Estate, London; and the acquisition and financing of 1 New Fetter Lane, London comprising offices, hospitality and leisure premises.

Stanhope plc

Advising Stanhope plc on the acquisition, redevelopment and sale of a residential-led mixed-use scheme at Station Hill, Reading in joint venture with Benson Elliot Capital Management; the acquisition and part lease-back of the BBC’s Media Village, West London in joint venture with Mitsui Fudosan (UK) Ltd; the joint venture with Hammersmith and Fulham Council to develop and regenerate the Council’s housing stock including the development of two initial sites; and the fund formation of the Threadneedle Low-Carbon Workplace Trust in partnership with Threadneedle Asset Management Finance Ltd and The Carbon Trust to refurbish existing buildings to best practice low carbon standards.

Genting Casinos

Advising Genting Casinos on the acquisition of the Metropolitan Hotel on Park Lane, London (operated by Como); the sale of a portfolio of residential rental apartments in South Kensington, London; and the grant of its occupational lease at the Palm Beach Casino in Berkeley Street, Mayfair.

Legal & General

Advising Legal & General on the acquisition and forward funding of two BTR development projects at New Bailey, Salford in a joint venture with Muse Developments; the acquisition of the Grafton Shopping Centre, Cambridge; and the corporate acquisition of West Cross Industrial Estate, Brentwood.

Rocket Properties

Advising Rocket Properties on the development, financing and leasing of the 40 floor residential tower at Atlas Building and the commercial premises at Provost & East on City Road, London; the re-financing of a retail and hospitality portfolio on City Road, London; and the acquisition and financing of office premises in Cranwood Street, London.

AIG

Advising AIG on the re-financing of five student accommodation development projects in Sheffield, Leeds, Southampton, Cardiff and Bournemouth; the acquisition of a portfolio of logistics and development sites in the greater Moscow region in joint venture with Deutsche Bank, Redwood Group and others; and the acquisition in joint venture with Orco Property Group of a portfolio of 4 star and 5 star city hotels and extended stay residences in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Russia.

Advising various lenders including AIG, Ares Management, DBS Bank, ING Bank, Investec Bank, Legal & General, LaSalle Investment Management, NBD Bank, Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation, RBC, RBS and ARA Venn Partners in connection with investment and development loans secured on a variety of real estate asset classes including offices, retail, hotels, sports clubs, caravan parks, student accommodation, residential (personal and investment), development projects and ground rent portfolios.
