About

Alex advises on all aspects of non-contentious construction law, including in relation to procurement strategies, building contracts (including JCT and other forms), consultant appointments, warranties, third party rights, bonds and guarantees.

Alex has extensive experience in development finance, acquisition transactions and real estate development work including office and hotel developments, high-end residential developments, the arts sector, large mixed-use schemes and data centres. He also provides construction due diligence support for corporate and real estate matters.

Alex also has experience advising on utilities agreements, including in relation to electricity infrastructure agreements and connection and supply agreements for developments involving district heat network connections. He was part of the UK GBC task group which contributed to Phase 2 of their guidance on renewable energy procurement.

Alex’s clients include developers, funders, owner occupiers, private clients and architects.

Alex is a member of the Society of Construction Law.

Experience

  • Advising on the redevelopment of the former Goldman Sachs London headquarters at Peterborough Court, encompassing over 450,000 sq ft of space, and the adjacent building at Daniel House.
  • Advising on a data centre development in East London including professional team appointments and power infrastructure works.
  • Advising Stanhope on the development of various office projects, including 320,000 sq ft of office accommodation at Woolgate Exchange.
  • Advising various high-end residential refurbishment and development projects both for private clients and for residential development companies.
  • Advising on the building contracts, professional appointments and ancillary documents in connection with a large luxury residential development in the Mayfair area, including advice on funding requirements.
  • Advising on the framework documents to be used by large international companies on their UK projects including accommodating the necessary insurance requirements.
  • Advising on the financing of various student accommodation schemes in the UK.
  • Advising on a large mixed use development at Merchant Square, Paddington, including residential units, affordable housing and retail space as well as various ancillary developments including office fit-out works.
  • Advising Twenty14 Holdings on the construction aspects of the redevelopment of Great Scotland Yard Hotel.
