About

Sam works on a range of tax and structuring matters, primarily focusing on fund structuring, investor representation and private capital transactions and advice.

Sam has particular experience advising private capital clients on complex UK and international tax matters, including fund establishment, investment structuring and transactional work. 

In addition, he also provides tax advice to corporate groups, and supports the Private Client group on tax issues relating to the business interests of individuals and family offices.

Elsewhere, he advises on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, with prior experience in structuring and tax due diligence work with infrastructure and private equity clients.

Sam is a Chartered Tax Adviser and member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) as well as a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Experience

  • Advising CBPE on its oversubscribed “one and done” fund, CBPE Fund XI, which closed at £714m.
  • Advising Stonehage Fleming on their combination with Corient and Stanhope Capital, creating a $430bn UHNW Wealth Management Family Office.
  • Advising Partners Capital Investment Group on an investment from General Atlantic.
  • Advising Notion Capital on the closing of Notion Capital Opportunities III SCSp, the third fund in its opportunistic series, which has successfully closed with commitments of $130m.
