Charme Capital partners acquires JD Classics in first UK investment

16 October 2016

Macfarlanes has advised pan-European mid-market private equity firm Charme Capital Partners (Charme) on its acquisition of JD Classics, a market-leading specialist for premium classic cars.

The deal is Charme’s first in the UK and sees Charme III and co-investors acquire a majority stake in the company, alongside the founder of JD Classics who retains a significant stake.

Macfarlanes corporate M&A partner Justin Hope comments: “This is the first deal for Charme in the UK since it opened its London office last year, and in a particularly interesting asset class, and as such we are very pleased to have been involved.”

The Macfarlanes team included lawyers from across the firm, led by corporate M&A partners Ian Martin and Justin Hope, with solicitors Mike Birkett and Natalie Glass.  Banking and finance advice was given by partner Christopher Lawrence with solicitor Clare Golding. Tax partners Damien Crossley and Peter Abbott, with solicitor Sam Trowbridge, advised on the tax aspects of this deal.
