Macfarlanes advises as landmark 22 Bishopsgate development proceeds

Macfarlanes has advised AXA Investment Managers - Real Assets, acting on behalf of an international consortium of investors, and its development partner Lipton Rogers LLP, on the building contract for the development 22 Bishopsgate.

AXA IM - Real Assets executed the building contract with Multiplex Construction Europe Limited for the main build of the tower on 27th October 2016, with a target completion date of 2019.

The building will offer c.1.4m sq ft, of space and is designed to house 12,000 workers.  Appealing to a broad range of occupiers, 22 will offer extensive amenities and spaces for meeting as well as shared work environments, including an incubator space that will support progressive new City businesses.  Plans also include dedicated areas for leisure, health and wellbeing.

22 is also the first UK building to apply for the Delos WELL Building Standard. This certification recognises the impact that buildings have on the health of their occupiers.

Peter Rogers of Lipton Rogers LLP comments: 'With Macfarlanes' guidance we have successfully completed the building contract and we now look forward to delivering the building on time and to budget.'
