Macfarlanes advises on sale of Gourmet Burger Kitchen
Macfarlanes has advised the management team of Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) on its £120m sale to South African company Famous Brands from Capricorn Ventures, which also owns high street restaurant chain Nando's.
GBK was founded in 2001 in London and now comprises 75 company-owned restaurants across the UK and is widely renowned as a market leader in the premium burger category.
The Macfarlanes team was led by corporate M&A partners Jessica Adam and Stephen Drewitt with solicitor Elaine O’Neill. Partner Peter Abbott advised on the tax aspects of the transaction.
The transaction is subject to approval from the SA Reserve Bank in terms of Exchange Control Regulations.
