Macfarlanes advises Alcentra on its €4.3bn direct lending fund

Macfarlanes is pleased to announce that it has advised Alcentra, the alternative fixed income specialist investment firm within BNY Mellon Investment Management, on the successful fundraising of its second European direct lending fund.

The fundraising has brought recent commitments to €4.3bn across the fund and separately managed accounts. Alcentra's committed capital for the strategy now exceeds €5.7bn. Capital for the fund came from institutional investors across the globe including Europe, the United States and the Far East.

The Macfarlanes advisory team was led by head of the investment management group, Stephen Robinson, tax partner, Damien Crossley, and senior counsel, Sam Brooks, with assistance from Alicia Thomas (solicitor, tax) and Richard Fletcher (partner, finance).

Stephen Robinson comments: "We are thrilled to have acted for Alcentra on the flagship fundraising of their second direct lending fund which is more than double the size of their first direct lending fund. Alcentra is part of the exciting growth in the direct lending space in which Macfarlanes is one of the leading law firms."
