Macfarlanes advises Greenergy on investment by Brookfield Business Partners

08 February 2017

Macfarlanes has advised Greenergy, a leading British fuel supplier, on a major investment by Brookfield Business Partners, part of Canadian alternative asset management group Brookfield. The transaction aims to give Greenergy the leverage to accelerate its growth strategy in the UK and in other markets.

Investing alongside Brookfield, Greenergy’s management shareholders will retain a 15 per cent share in the business, with company strategy and senior management to remain unchanged. Other existing shareholders who are not part of management will exit the business.

The Macfarlanes advisory team was led by corporate and M&A partner Stephen Drewitt, alongside corporate and M&A solicitors Julian Thatcher and Alexander Critchley. Further assistance on this matter was provided by commercial real estate senior solicitor Caroline Taylor.
