Macfarlanes announces new special situations partner

Macfarlanes is pleased to announce that Peter Baldwin will join us on 1 June as a partner focusing on special situations and distressed transactions.

Peter has over 20 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer and he has spent the last decade focusing on advising leading credit funds and the special situations investing groups at the global investment banks on portfolio acquisitions and disposals and complex structured transactions.

Peter was a partner in Ropes & Gray’s London office from 2011 and was co-head of its global special situations practice until recently.

Peter Baldwin said: “Macfarlanes offers an ideal platform for the work that I do and the clients that I serve. I am excited at the prospect of working with the firm’s outstanding debt finance, tax, insolvency, pensions and, of course, corporate, teams”.

Howard Corney, co-head of M&A said: “Peter has a very strong reputation in a field that we see as a great strategic fit for us. We are at a point in the economic cycle that makes committing further resources to this type of work even more compelling. We look forward to integrating Peter into our team and to doing more work for our existing clients as well as to welcoming important new clients to the firm”.
