Macfarlanes advises Alcentra as second European strategic credit fund closes at €557m

Macfarlanes has advised long-standing client Alcentra on the successful fundraising of its second European strategic credit fund which has closed at €557m.

This capital will be used to continue Alcentra’s strategic credit strategy investing in stressed and distressed debt opportunities, with assets under management for its European strategic credit platform rising to over €1.5bn.

The Macfarlanes advisory team was led by investment management partner Sam Brooks with assistance from senior solicitor Henry Stewart-Brown and solicitor Miriam Cable. Tax advice was provided by tax and reward partner Damien Crossley with assistance from senior solicitor Shaul Steinberg and fund finance expertise came from finance partner Richard Fletcher.

Sam Brooks comments: “As one of Europe’s premier credit managers, Alcentra is well placed to source investment opportunities in the current challenging market conditions, and the successful launch of their second European strategic credit fund gives them a strong platform to do so. We were delighted to be able to assist with this project.”
