Macfarlanes advises CBPE on closing of Capital Fund X at £561m hard cap

Macfarlanes had advised leading UK mid-market private equity investor CBPE Capital LLP (CBPE) on its latest fund, CBPE Capital Fund X, which has closed at its hard cap of £561m, surpassing its £525m target.

The fund received commitments from both new and existing investors including pension funds, insurance companies, fund of funds, endowments and foundations, and will continue the firm’s strategy of investing in UK-headquartered businesses with an enterprise value of up to £150m.

CBPE is a long-standing client of the firm, with Macfarlanes advising on its previous fundraise, CBPE Capital IX, which closed at a hard cap of £459m in August 2016.

The Macfarlanes team for this matter was led by investment management partner Stephen Robinson with assistance from solicitor Rooshin Vaghadia. Tax and reward expertise was provided by partner Mark Baldwin and senior solicitor Penny Van den Brande.

Stephen Robinson comments: “We were delighted to advise CBPE once again on the successful raising of its tenth fund, which shows the strong continued desire from investors.”

Sean Dinnen, Managing Partner of CBPE comments: “We would like to thank Macfarlanes for their continued support and invaluable advice throughout the fundraising.”
