Macfarlanes advises Derwent London on acquisition of Brixton’s Blue Star House

Macfarlanes has advised long-standing client Derwent London plc on its acquisition of Brixton’s Blue Star House for £38.1m before costs.

Covering 53,750 sq ft, the mixed use building comprises multi-let office space as well as restaurant and leisure units on the ground level.

Derwent has a successful strategy of identifying and investing in new areas and believes there is scope for the redevelopment of this site into a significantly larger scheme.

The Macfarlanes team for the acquisition was led by real estate partner Nick Barnes, working with partner Steven Pitchford and solicitor Emily Walker. Tax advice was provided by partner Mark Baldwin.

Nick Barnes comments: “We are pleased to have supported Derwent on the acquisition of this property as an addition to its notable development pipeline.”
