Macfarlanes advises Liberation Group on purchase of 21 pubs from Wadworth
Macfarlanes has advised Liberation Group, a PE-backed pub, restaurant and drinks business and owner of the Butcombe Brewing Co, on the acquisition of 21 pubs from Wiltshire-based brewery Wadworth.
Liberation Group, which was bought by investment firm Caledonia in 2016, has made multiple acquisitions over recent years and now owns over 100 pubs across the Channel Islands and the UK, plus two breweries and three drinks distribution businesses. This latest acquisition forms part of its plans for continued growth in the south west of England.
The Macfarlanes team was led by corporate and M&A partner Stephen Drewitt with assistance from senior solicitor Nicholas Page and solicitor Annie McElwain. Real estate expertise was provided by senior counsel Margaret Rhodes and senior solicitor Charlotte Youngs.
