Macfarlanes advises Virgin on new brand partnership with Bain Capital and Virgin Australia

Macfarlanes has advised the Virgin Group on an extension to its brand licence arrangements with Australian-based airline Virgin Australia, as part of a new agreement with incoming owner Bain Capital, the US private equity group.

The arrangements coincide with the Virgin Australia business exiting administration and will see the airline carry the Virgin brand until at least 2045.

The Macfarlanes team was led by commercial partner Will Hedges with assistance from senior solicitor Rosie Duckworth and solicitor Rob Grant. Macfarlanes worked alongside Virgin IP Director Bill Budd, and Johnson Winter & Slattery who advised the Virgin Group on the administration process in Australia.
