Macfarlanes advises Hayfin on special opportunities strategy as third fund closes at €2bn

Macfarlanes has advised Hayfin Capital Management, a leading European credit platform on the raising of its third Special Opportunities fund (Special Opportunities Fund III), which exceeded its target size and closed with commitments of over €2bn.

The successful fundraise comprises Fund III, which has reached a final close, and related separately managed accounts.

The fundraise provides Hayfin with capital to invest in corporate and asset-backed opportunities arising from post-pandemic dislocation and related balance sheet restructurings.

Hayfin received capital commitments from a broad range of sophisticated institutional investors globally, including public and private pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, consultants, financial institutions, and family offices.

The Macfarlanes fundraising team was led by investment management partner Alex Amos, with assistance from senior counsel Chris Daniel, senior solicitors Harriet Miller and Jonathan Dixon, as well as partners Damien Crossley, Ceinwen Rees and Alicia Thomas and solicitors Charlie Tannock and Joe Maughan in the tax and reward team.
