Macfarlanes advises on Supermarket Income REIT’s migration to the Main Market

Macfarlanes has advised Supermarket Income REIT, the real estate investment trust providing secure, inflation-protected, long income from grocery property in the UK, on its admission to the premium segment of the Official List of the Financial Conduct Authority and to trading on the premium segment of London Stock Exchange’s (LSE) Main Market for listed securities.

The transaction was led by corporate M&A partner Robert Boyle, with assistance from senior counsel Mark Slade and trainee solicitor Isabel Hazelton.

Macfarlanes has advised the company since its IPO in 2017, including on a significant number of fundraisings and acquisitions.

Commenting on the transaction, Robert Boyle said: “This is a landmark transaction for Supermarket Income REIT, which is expected to bring a number of benefits to the company, including increasing liquidity in its shares and broadening its investor base. We are delighted to have advised on this latest milestone for the REIT, having seen it grow from its listing in 2017 to a company with a market capitalisation of c. £1.2bn”.
