Macfarlanes advises Quilter on launch of Timber Equity Fund

Macfarlanes has advised Quilter Investors on the launch of the Quilter Investors Timber Equity Fund which aims to achieve capital growth by investing in companies which support sustainable forestry and timber practices.

The fund, which is operated by Quilter Investors and managed by Pictet Asset Management, will invest throughout the timber value chain, focusing on companies that sustainably manage forests and produce wood-based materials, therefore ensuring trees are replanted, nurtured and allowed to re-grow and capture carbon dioxide, whilst seeking to maintain biodiversity. It will also focus on companies providing biodegradable substitutes to plastics, concrete or steel.

The Macfarlanes team for this matter was led by investment management partner Lora Froud with assistance from associates Emma Garnham and Sandeesh Shah.

Lora Froud comments: “It was a pleasure to assist long-standing client Quilter launch a thematic fund focused on sustainable forestry in the UK. We wish them all the best for a successful product.”
