Macfarlanes joins the Black Talent Charter as signatory

20 June 2023

Macfarlanes is pleased to announce that the firm is a signatory of the Black Talent Charter (BTC), a newly established cross-sector initiative focused on the under-representation of Black talent in British business.

The BTC is an initiative led by Laura Durrant (managing partner of culture and diversity consultancy Equitura LLP) and Harry Matovu KC (Brick Court Chambers). The aim of the Charter is to work collaboratively with organisations across the financial and professional sectors to accelerate the career progression of Black professionals.

Through the BTC, Macfarlanes will have access to a range of events and resources, some specifically targeted at Black talent within BTC signatories, some aimed at a wider audience.

Justin Hope, a Race and Ethnicity Partner Champion at Macfarlanes, comments: “Joining the Black Talent Charter is an exciting development which builds on what we are doing in relation to attraction, retention and progression, and as we work towards our Partnership targets action plan. It also builds on the collaborative work we are doing as a steering committee member firm of Legal CORE and with the Race Fairness Commitment. I hope we can work together with other organisations not only to support our own Black talent, but also talented Black professionals across many sectors.”
