Group Actions

We have a long history of working on some of the largest class actions in the English Courts. This includes actions brought under the High Court regimes (including representative actions and Group Litigation Orders) and collective proceedings under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Competition Act 1998.

Our work has involved a number of different areas, including:

  • competition;
  • privacy/data protection;
  • automotive;
  • energy;
  • personal injury;
  • tax;
  • financial services;
  • construction and engineering;
  • shareholder disputes; and
  • insurance.

Group actions raise specific issues which are not present in other actions. We have a thorough understanding of the unique requirements of group actions both in terms of legal strategy and procedure, stakeholder management and communications. This includes advising in the context of public and parliamentary inquiries, regulatory investigations and the establishment of compensation schemes. We have particular expertise in handling actions where the underlying events date back many years or took place overseas.

We also have a deep understanding of the commercial pressures associated with such claims. Our partner-led approach helps ease these pressures through a close and detailed understanding of the issues and our total commitment to our clients.

We liaise with renowned experts across a range of disciplines. The involvement of experts at an early stage can be enormously helpful in providing clear and impartial views on matters such as liability, causation, quantum, and informing the most effective strategy to adopt in the proceedings.
