Macfarlanes advises Dawn Capital on closing of £165m third fund
19 April 2018Macfarlanes has advised venture capital investor Dawn Capital on the raising of its third fund, Dawn III, which after increasing its hard cap twice, attracted commitments of £165m which makes it one of the largest venture capital funds raised in Europe in the last couple of years.
The fund which focuses on early-stage investment in fintech and Software as a Service (SaaS) businesses secured investments from UK, European and US institutional investors and notably the European Investment Fund (EIF).
The Macfarlanes team for this matter was led by investment management partner Stephen Robinson with assistance from solicitor Sweta Tandle. Tax advice was provided by partner Damien Crossley alongside solicitor Florence Barnes.
Stephen Robinson comments: “We are delighted to have continued our long-standing relationship with Dawn and act for them on this successful fundraise. The oversubscribed nature of the fund reflects investors’ continued interest in B2B technology and in European venture capital backed businesses.”
Haakon Overli, General Partner at Dawn comments: “We are very pleased to have achieved a final close of Dawn III at its increased hard cap. The Macfarlanes team provided valuable advice and support throughout the process.”
