Macfarlanes advises the founder and management team of Genius Sports Group on sale to Apax Partners

Macfarlanes has advised founder, Mark Locke, and the management team on the sale of Genius Sports Group to Apax. Genius Sports Group, which was founded in 2000, is a global leader in sports data technology.

The company's software is used by over 300 sporting bodies around the world to collect and distribute in-game statistics. It also offers a full suite of services to enable the likes of Major League Baseball, the English Premier League and the PGA TOUR to identify, combat and prevent betting-related corruption. Through Betgenius, its sports betting division, the technology is also used by over 150 licensed sportsbook operators in regulated markets to maximise performance across their betting platforms, trading and customer engagement systems.

The Macfarlanes team was led by corporate and M&A partner Howard Corney who was supported by senior solicitor Adam Levine. Further advice was provided by tax partner Rob Collard, private client partner Oliver Court and senior solicitor Mark Hunter. Employment expertise came from partner Hayley Robinson and solicitor India Townsend.
