Macfarlanes advises on sale of M7 Real Estate to Oxford Properties

01 February 2021

Macfarlanes has advised the senior management team and majority shareholders of M7 Real Estate on their agreement to sell the UK-headquartered real estate investment firm to Oxford Properties, the real estate arm of Canadian pension fund OMERS.

M7 Real Estate is an investment and asset management platform specialising in pan-European, regional, multi-tenanted commercial real estate. Oxford Properties intends to use M7 as its primary vehicle for deploying capital into the European logistics space. M7 will continue to operate under the day-to-day management of its existing leadership team.

The Macfarlanes private equity real estate (PERE) group led the project, helmed by corporate and M&A partner Justin Hope with assistance from senior consultant Robert Porter and solicitors Kathryn Jarvis and Andrew Wheelhouse. Advice on the financing aspects was provided by partner Colin Morgan and senior solicitor Laura Uberoi, with tax expertise being provided by senior counsel Sarah Shucksmith.

Justin Hope comments: “It was a pleasure working with the M7 team to agree this milestone transaction for the business, which I hope will be a springboard for further growth in the European logistics space as part of the Oxford Properties Group.”
