Angus is head of the non-contentious side of our construction and engineering group. He specialises in all aspects of construction law, predominantly advising developers and institutional investors on major development projects.

Angus acts for a broad spectrum of clients including developers, funders, owner occupiers, tenants, architects and contractors. He advises on procurement strategies, building contracts, consultant appointments, warranties, third party rights, bonds and guarantees. He also advises on construction aspects of agreements for lease and development and funding agreements.

Angus is a member of the City of London Law Society Construction Committee, has an MSc in construction law and dispute resolution from Kings College and writes regularly in the RIBA Journal.

Angus is co-author for the chapter on UK construction law for the International Comparative Legal Guide to Construction & Engineering.

Advising long-standing client Legal & General on the provision of a £265m debt facility for its Build to Rent Fund with a lender club including Lloyds, NatWest and ING.

Brookfield Properties

Advising Brookfield Properties on the development of Amazon’s new 600,000 sq ft office headquarters and a 50 storey residential tower at Principal Place. The development is situated over major rail lines coming into Liverpool Street station.

Legal & General

Advising Legal & General’s flagship Build to Rent fund on the acquisition and development of various sites. We are advising on projects being developed by the Fund itself (including 400 units in Walthamstow), as well as those where the Fund is providing forward funding.

Arora Group

Advising Arora Group on the construction and development funding of the Intercontinental Hotel and a residential apartment block linked to the O2 arena.

Associated British Ports

Advising Associated British Ports on the £310m development of Green Port Hull to create a dedicated facility for Siemens to serve offshore windfarm developments.

CLS Holdings

Advising CLS Holdings on the development, and subsequent sale for £157m, of its Vauxhall Square site.

High end residential developments

Advising on construction contracts and funding arrangements for large scale high end residential developments in Mayfair and Regent’s Park.

Data centres

Advising on the phased fit outs of two data centres for a large investment bank and subsequent resilience upgrade works.

High value residential properties

Advising on various fit out, refurbishment and extension works to high value residential properties including projects at The Knightsbridge, St George’s Hill and Eaton Square.
