Ranking in 23rd place, Macfarlanes has improved its position by 30 places since last year. This reflects the firm’s significant commitment to supporting social mobility, including the launch of the Macfarlanes training scholarship and bursary, the opportunities provided to staff via the firm’s business services academy and changes to the Macfarlanes Legal Academy programme which has enabled the firm to reach students in social mobility cold spots.

The Social Mobility Foundation is the leading authority on employer-led social mobility and its Employer Index is an annual benchmarking and assessment tool which provides an overview of social mobility in workplaces. Macfarlanes has submitted to the Employer Index since 2018 and has been ranked in the Top 75 listing since 2020.
