The win recognises the strength of the litigation practice and the team’s outstanding work for Genius Sports (a global sports data and technology firm) in its high-profile dispute against competitor Sportradar.

The Genius Sports case was used to showcase the calibre of the litigation team’s work and concerned the grant of exclusive rights to Genius Sports to collect and use live match data from Premier League, English Football League and Scottish Professional Football League matches. Macfarlanes secured a favourable settlement which was instrumental in leading to the settlement of an important connected dispute.

Partners Lois Horne and Malcolm Walton collected the award on behalf of a cross practice competition and litigation team which included senior counsel Fiona Beattie, senior associates Elizabeth Preston-Whyte and Alexandra Thorne, associates Luke Chinniah, Leyla Garahan, Matthew Jones, Harry Palmer, Carrie Gothard, and George Badger.
