Macfarlanes advises on Illuminated River
01 August 2019Macfarlanes has advised the Illuminated River Foundation on the public art commission to light up to 15 Thames bridges, the first four of which were lit in July 2019.
LED lighting, specially designed for each crossing, is now live at London, Cannon Street, Southwark and the Millennium Bridge. Once the remaining bridges are completed, the project is expected to be the longest public art commission in the world. The designs have been created by American light artist Leo Villareal and British architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.
Construction partner Angus Dawson led the Macfarlanes team advising on the project. Angus was supported on the construction side by senior solicitor Hannah Sheppard with senior solicitor Hayley Cole advised on planning issues and senior solicitor Tania Barnes on real estate.
Angus Dawson comments: "We would like to congratulate everyone involved with the Illuminated River project on reaching this milestone. The commission has created fantastic night time views for Londoners and visitors. We are delighted to have helped the Foundation bring its vision to life."
