Macfarlanes advises Improbable Worlds Limited on sale of The Multiplayer Group to Keywords Studios

Macfarlanes has advised Improbable Worlds Limited (Improbable) on its sale of The Multiplayer Group (MPG) to Keywords Studios for £76.5m.

Improbable is a British start-up that has been at the forefront of building virtual worlds for over a decade. Improbable has been a client of Macfarlanes since its inception in 2012, with the firm advising on each of its previous funding rounds and on its original acquisition of MPG in 2019.

MPG provides co-development and full-game development for its clients and also has functions working on data science, new technology and AI.

The Macfarlanes team was led by corporate and M&A partner Alex Edmondson with assistance from associate Michael Sweeney. Tax and reward advice was provided by partners Jeremy Moncrieff and Robert Collard with senior associates Joe Robinson and Mark Petch. Commercial advice was provided by senior associate Mark Cusack.
